What role do uNK cells play in achieving pregnancy

In the process of embryo implantation, uNK cells play an important role by helping to create the right environment for implantation. If they are too active or cytotoxic, they may prevent implantation or contribute to miscarriages.

The aim of the test is to determine whether the number and activity of uNK cells in the uterus are balanced and whether they can properly support implantation.

How the test is performed

1.

Collection of an endometrial sample - The gynaecologist collects a small sample of the uterine lining. The procedure is quick and gentle and does not require general anaesthesia.

2.

Optimal timing - The sample is collected in the second phase of the menstrual cycle, during the implantation window.

3.

Laboratory analysis - The sample is analysed in a laboratory, which determines the number and activity of uNK cells.

What the results show:

Based on the results, the doctor may recommend targeted immune treatment, such as corticosteroids or another immunomodulatory therapy.

  • their functional activity
  • any imbalance of cytotoxic cells that may affect implantation
