Sperm donation

Sperm donation is an effective solution for couples who cannot conceive using their own sperm – whether due to low ejaculate quality, genetic burden, the consequences of oncological treatment or disorders of sperm production.

Donor sperm can be used both in an IVF cycle with the partner's own eggs and in combination with donor oocytes.

Individual donor selection

We always adapt donor selection to the specific needs of each couple.

Thanks to our extensive donor database, we are able to select a donor with a matching blood group who resembles the partner as closely as possible.

Who can become a donor

Donors are healthy men aged 18 to 35, who voluntarily help couples unable to conceive using their own sperm. They are often students or young men at the beginning of their careers, who meet strict health criteria and undergo a thorough approval process and repeated testing.

Each donor undergoes:

clinical examination
repeated semen analysis
testing for sexually transmitted infections (HIV, HBsAg, HCV, syphilis, chlamydia)
blood group and Rh factor determination
genetic testing (karyotype, mutations associated with cystic fibrosis, spinal muscular atrophy and Connexin 26 – congenital deafness)
consultation with a geneticist, who approves the donor for donation

Anonymity and legal certainty

Sperm donation in the Czech Republic is completely anonymous – the identity of both the donor and the recipient always remains protected.

The entire process follows strict ethical and legislative rules – in accordance with Directive 2004/23/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council, Act No. 296/2008 Coll. and Decree No. 422/2008 Coll.
